We are pleased to announce the formation of the 2011 three-year training program. The training program is designed to certifyclinicians as Gestalt Therapists. The
GIM program will teach Gestalt Therapy methodology and applications and
assist trainees to develop a personal clinical style and pace that is
suited to his or her individual temperament and skills.
It is essential in working with others to see and hear them for who they are without being clouded by our countertransference. To
do this we must be open, flexible and responsive to an ongoing changing
reality, not fixated by the unresolved and incomplete situations and
issues from our personal histories.
The
first year of the training program will focus on Gestalt Therapy theory
and examine the historical antecedents of Gestalt Therapy. During
the first year the training group will meet bi-monthly and examines the
theory and framework of developing increased awareness and working with
concept formulation from a Gestalt Therapy perspective. In addition we will also be working on identifying developing themes and processes in ourselves and our patients.
The
second year emphasizes personal growth and increasing self-awareness in
addition to applying the Gestalt methodology to your clinical practice. The
second year of the program is designed to assist the trainee in the
development of his or her unique style as a therapist and much greater
emphasis is placed on using ones self as part of the therapeutic
process.
The
third year is devoted exclusively to the ongoing development of the
trainee and to an intensive writing project typically taking the form
of a control case the trainee has been involved with during the tenure
of their program.
FeesThe cost of the program is $2100.00 per year.
If payment
in full is received one month before the beginning of the program a 10%
discount is offered.
