This two-day workshop will
utilize the WISC-IV as a basic interpretive instrument in understanding basic
brain functioning. It will also serve
as an introduction to the administration and interpretation of the instrument
by clinicians who wish to begin to expand their clinical armamentarium by
utilizing psychological testing as part of their clinical practice. The Thursday portion of this workshop will
focus its attention on brain functioning and understanding
neurodevelopment. On Friday we will
focus our attention specifically on understanding the WISC-IV. This is not
to be construed as a workshop that encourages or promotes utilization of the
WISC or any other psychological test instrument without further training and clinical supervision while
learning to utilize the WISC or any other instrument. This workshop will however permit you to gain the clinical
understanding to begin that process.
Practice with elements of the WISC-IV will be utilized in the workshop.
Thursday we will examine basic
neurodevelopment and how the brain gains functionality. We will also examine the concept of
interlobal dependency as it applies to brain functionality. This will lay the foundation for
understanding the critical concepts that are measured in the WISC-IV. On Friday
we will begin our study of the WISC-IV and review:Basic
